"'I have the right to do anything,'
you say-but
not everything is beneficial.
'I have the right to do anything.'
-but not everything is constructive.
No one should seek their own good,
but the good of others."
1 Corinthians 10:23-24
Hey guys!! I hope you all are doing fantastic. I have had a couple moments here and there recently where I have not been feeling as great as usual. It is a humble reminder to be even more appreciative during the great times. Other than my sporadic moments of discouragement / moodiness, I have been doing just fine.
With opinionated topics, comes a disclaimer lol.
(*** Disclaimer : None of my blogs are meant to hurt or offend anyone. These blogs are not to condone anyone for what they may or may not do. If anything I say causes you negative feelings, feel free to talk to me. You are welcome to comment down below, direct message me, email me, or all of the above haha. It is also important for you all to understand this is NOT me saying "Look at me! Look at me! I am so perfect." I am NOT perfect, and I am just as human as everyone else.)
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let's talk about alcohol! I think a lot of people have varying opinions on alcohol. I would even go as far to say that most people these days drink (whether it be rarely, in moderation, or frequently). So, I will go ahead, and answer the big question... Do I drink? The answer is no not at all. Only one time ever in high school, I took the smallest sip possible of alcohol. It was whiskey mixed with sprite. It was one of the nastiest things I have ever tasted. That tiny sip confirmed my decision EVEN more lol.
(My little dog enjoying the sunrise not knowing he was on his way to the vet to get a shot. He did just fine though!)
So, why don't I drink?? Not only does the smell / taste of alcohol make me nauseous, I have never had the desire to drink. I am naturally bubbly. You barely have to say anything to me, and I will fall over laughing. I have never thought, "Hm, if I were to get drunk right now, I would have more fun." Also, because of my anxiety, I am concerned that not being fully aware of what's going on around me may lead to me getting overwhelmed. AND another huge reason I will not drink is because... I am not going to voluntarily drink something that may make me sick. ("addressing my mental illness" explains why I cannot stand being sick). Lastly, as a Christian, I find it better to stay away from things that may lead me astray.
I got the name "goodie two shoes" in high school. Some people would act like I am not able to have fun, because I am a "rule follower". I like rules. As someone who gets anxious of the unknown, I like knowing that if I follow rules I will not deal with unwanted consequences. Not only does it not feel right as a Christian, but my parents would not approve of that lifestyle at all. I am also underaged, but since that does not seem to stop anyone usually, I figured it did not need a whole lot of mentioning. I really never cared when people commented on my "goodie two shoes" behavior. I mean I did make it my name on here lol.
Growing up, I was constantly reminded of this Bible verse to keep me from "following" others :
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- His good, pleasing, and perfect will."
- Romans 12:2
So now you have my opinion. Let's take a look at a couple of the Bible verses I found regarding alcohol.
Drunkenness :
"And do not get drunk with wine; for that is dissipation, but be filled with the spirit." - Ephesians 5:18
"Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler; whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise." - Proverbs 20:1
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." - 1 Peter 5:8
Moderation :
"Go then, eat your bread in happiness and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works."
- Ecclesiastes 9:7
"And wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man's heart." - Psalm 104:15
"Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31 (*I put this in bold, because come on!!! This just summarizes my entire blog!!)
To wrap this all up, God warns against drunkenness, but seems okay with moderation. (This is my research!! If you have any Bible verses that you feel I should include, let me know!!) If you do get drunk, please remember to be safe. There are so many people dying, or getting seriously hurt from drunk driving. Keep yourself and the others around you safe.
Lastly, you ALL are SOOO appreciated and loved!! <3 <3 Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I say this all the time, but... I am SOOO excited for my next blog post. Keep your eyes peeled for it! Please keep praying for my grandmother (heart failure / other health-related issues) and my cousin (brain tumor removal recovery).
Let's talk! I love hearing your own stories and opinions! If you have any questions / comments / concerns that you would rather not comment down below, direct message me or email me!
