why VDAY is the best day

"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13

Hey guys! Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope you all are doing well. I know we all have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day. I am really hoping this blog helps to put things into perspective for some of you (:

As for my mental health update, I am doing extremely well. I have my moments here and there. I am still learning to not beat myself up every time I am struggling over something really small. When I am doing really good mentally, it can be really frustrating when I get anxious over something pathetic. Anyways, my point is that I am doing really well, and I am handling things better than I usually do. Somedays, I literally feel like I am going to just explode, because I am so happy. So, I definitely have a good share of good moments.

Onto today's topic...

There is no better time to talk about love than on Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. Don't get me wrong... I know Christmas is great, and I love being able to celebrate the birth of Christ. However, I have my reasons for loving Valentine's Day (which will be discussed throughout the blog).

What is Valentine's Day celebrated for? Google's answer : Every year on 14 February people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends. Couples send Valentine's Day cards and flowers and spend special time together to honor their love for each other.

A lot of times when people hear that Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday, they would assume it was because I was in a relationship. My response to that is a fat no. Yes, it can be great to have a partner on Valentine's Day, but that is not my reason for it. It is a day solely dedicated to loving. Plus, hearts are everywhere. You can shove handfuls of chocolate into your mouth without being judged. Go into a Walmart, and look in the Valentine's Day section. There is literally every kind of stuffed animal on this planet holding a little heart. I could honestly spend at least an hour looking through the Valentine's Day sections in Walmart and Target. It is such a cute holiday.

I celebrate Valentine's Day with my family every year. Even if we have to celebrate on a different day (because one of us has a date or something), we always make time to celebrate as a family. My mom makes pink, heart-shaped pancakes for everyone, and she usually gives all of us a tiny gift. I grew up seeing Valentine's Day as a day to just love a little harder on everyone. I knew it dealt with relationships, but I always saw it as so much more than that.

Sadly, everyone is so down on it, because they don't have a date (or cannot celebrate with their partner for whatever reason). If you do not live near family or friends, call them. Go do a random act of kindness. Do something that shows someone that Valentine's Day can be a good day. It can also be a great day for self-care. Treat yourself to something. It can be big or little.

You know what else makes Valentine's Day even better? It is a great day to remind ourselves that God loves us SOOO much more than anyone could ever come close to. As humans we mess up all the time, we sin, and do things we know we should not. Yet, God's love for us is never ending. Use this holiday that people associate way to much with relationships as a great reminder. 1 John 4:19 says, "We love because He first loved us."

I know this blog is a little bit shorter than my other blogs, but I felt like it was important to dedicate a blog to Valentine's Day. Relationship or not, today can be a good day for you. It is like that little quote that says, "Today is a good day to have a good day." For those of you who are single, remember to be content during this time. God is preparing you for whoever you are supposed to be with. It is better to be single on this day than being with the wrong person.

And as always, you all are appreciated! <3 Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!! Please keep on praying for my grandmother. Her heart has been doing better, but she does struggle with other health complications.
